News
from the Helm
By Grand
Knight Walt Lucek
Greetings
fellow Knights & Ladies,
It’s hard to believe we are already
through a 3rd of 2008, time flies when you’re having fun. I want to thank
Brother Dave Fazekas for his
efforts in organizing our Habitat For
Humanity work day in April (also a big thanks to Debbie Fazekas for
providing our meal) and coordinating the pizza meal for Camp Joshua.
I would also like to recognize Brother Leo Segalla for his efforts in organizing
Louisiana’s first Pro-Life teen retreat (Camp Joshua) and coordinating our
council’s meal for the Becoming the Man You Want to Be.
I will be attending my first KC State Convention the first weekend
in May, I will write a short review of new information in the June chart.
Hope to see most of you at the next business meeting May 1st.
I received a Thank You note from one of our CYLA
winner’s mother that I wanted to share with everyone since this is what we are all
about, BUT the webmaster failed to reproduce it here.
Jetson
Correctional meal: Our next meal
at Jetson Correctional will be Saturday May 17th, please contact Brother Paul
Geissler at 292-0130 if you are interested in helping with this project.
Bingo: Our next bingo is on Saturday May 3rd at
6:30 in Denham Springs. We have formed a Bingo Committee to look into other
possibilities for our bingo involvement. Until then May and June will be our
last scheduled bingos, so we could really use some volunteers. To make sure these are profitable nights,
hope to see you there.
Please keep Brother Mickey Brown in your prayers, he is continuing his
recovery at his brother’s home in Plaquemine.
Vivat
Jesus
Special
Notes ----Check out our council website “kc8601.com” and our church web site
for information and pictures.
Auxiliary News by Mary Lynn Segall Elections
for the year 2008-2009 will be held at the next
meeting on May 1.
A nominating
committee including Grace Cazes –
292-7012, Laraine Galyean – 752-2826, and Mary Lynn Segalla – 293-7414 has
been appointed. If you are interested
in serving as an officer of the Auxiliary, or if you would like to nominate
someone (with their permission), please call one of the committee
members.
Our Auxiliary voted to fund the lunch for
the Habitat for Humanity workers
on the 12th. Thanks to
Debbie Fazekas for volunteering to purchase and prepare the meal.
Help is urgently needed for our next Bingo scheduled for May 3 at 6:30
P.M. It takes Knights and Auxiliary
members to operate this bingo and without proper attendance, we are in danger
of losing this fund raiser. Since the
Knights share the proceeds with the Auxiliary, it is our fund raiser too.
Chart circulation note.
If
you have an e-mail address & are receiving the Chart by US mail, please send your email
info to agibbons48@cox.net. We could save printing & mailing
cost if we use e-mail. I will send the
Chart snail mail to those without emails.
Thanks, Ann G
